Mose Mitchell (better known as “Uncle Mose”) lived in Pigeon Inlet, an outport on the northeast coast of Newfoundland. However, he was originally from a small community in Fortune Bay. He had a variety of experiences before settling in Pigeon Inlet. When he was sixteen he went bank fishing, an occupation he pursued for thirty-four years; then he spent a short time in St. John’s, a place he did not like because “I couldn’t stand the dust and smoke and noise and used to get heartsick whenever I looked out the narrows.”
His decision to move to Pigeon Inlet came about as a result of his meeting Joe Irwin who was in St. John’s for a load of freight and was looking for a shipmate. He settled in well, and before long he was affectionately nicknamed “Uncle Mose” by the local residents. By the time the Chronicles of Uncle Mose begin, he has lived in Pigeon Inlet for three and one-half years, long enough to have become integrated into the community, but not so long as to have lost the broader perspective that his experiences have given him. Thus he is both an intimate participant and a detached observer.

Does any one have any idea where i can find the story that was written about bringing curling to the inlet
Its the story of one community ordering the supplies (curling stones) and the folks in the inlet not to be outdone follow suit
Thanks hoping someone can point me in the right direction
